Introducing Rich Catlin

Your Local Electrician
I began my electrical career as an apprentice electrical contractor to Trent & Dove housing association, testing and inspecting void properties, filling in electrical installation reports and completing any remedial works as necessary. I set up Catlin Electrical in 2006 and continued a partnership with Trent & Dove, working mostly on their commercial properties. I also contracted to several local builders and housing associations.
In 2012, I began to specialise in electrical installations mostly within food manufacturing. I was also employed as an electrical consultant to the National Trust and worked on several projects including rewiring a 16th century mansion, and installing a new HV/LV supply to a country estate.
During the last 8 years, I have worked all over Europe, for many recognisable names within the food industry, but I’ve missed the good old days. So as of 2020, Catlin Electrical – Domestic and Commercial Electrical Services, in and around Burton upon Trent is back in business.

My ethos - by The Vegan Sparky
Sustainability is central to everything I do.
From installing solar panels and electric vehicle charging points to living as a vegan, I strive to be the greenest, mountain biking, vegan sparky in the world.
Why did I become vegan?
I became the world’s first vegan electrician because of the huge environmental and animal welfare impacts of livestock farming, as well as to improve my socket wiring performance and to give my clients an insight into the wonderful world of vegan power.
Living on a plant-based diet instead of animals is one of the biggest things you can do to cut your impact on the planet. Livestock produces just 18% of food calories and 37% of protein, but it takes up more than 80% of farmland. We need to change that.
